Craziest Fishing Ever

                                                       Craziest Fishing Ever

Giant Jacks and Bluefish from the Beach in Florida

Overview - Most insane day of fishing I've ever had in my life!!! Caught over 100 fish, my hands were torn to shreds, and it felt AWESOME!

Every cast I would have bluefish and jack crevalle COMPETING to attack my popper. Thousands of mullet were getting blasted every second, and near the end 100+ lb tarpon came in to feed! All I can say is... I can't wait till I can go back down to Florida for some more of the craziest saltwater fishing ever!!!

America's Top Ten Trout Fishing Streams

 Top Ten Trout Fishing Streams

I'm going seriously out on a limb by naming the top 10 trout rivers in the country. I will doubtless leave out some rivers that are worthy of mention.

But when it comes to a list like this, you have to eventually pick the streams, and I'll apologize in advance if I don't put you're favorite river down.

I'm sure these aren't actually the ten very best fishing streams around, there are dozens of backcountry Alaskan streams and private trout waters that are probably better than any of these. But these are all rivers that are easily accessible and provide awesome trout fishing.

These are all well known 10 Ten streams, and they'll be crowded from time to time. Still, they're all long rivers and there is room to spread out. It's no coincidence that Montana is well represented in the list. It is full of long, beautiful trout rivers.

Be careful while boating

New Year's revelers warned to be careful while boating.

Three years ago on New Year's Eve, two Central Florida men launched a boat from a fish camp near Oviedo and were never seen alive again.
Two life jackets were found on their empty fishing boat. Their bodies were recovered from Lake Jesup.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is trying to prevent similar tragedies as another New Year rolls around.

More boaters than usual are expected on Central Florida lakes this holiday because New Year's Day falls on a Friday, creating a long weekend, and because of unseasonably warm weather, said Brian Rehwinkel, the commission's coordinator for boating safety.
"We do see a rise in the number of boating accidents during holidays," added Capt. Tom Shipp of the commission's boating and waterways section.
Life jackets are a simple way that boaters can improve their odds of staying safe, Shipp said. So is designating a sober operator if a day on the water is going to involve drinking alcohol.

Winter boating safety

Winter is no time to forget about boating safety.

As a general rule, foul weather is a blessing for duck hunters. Winds and cloud cover associated with weather fronts help to increase daytime bird activity and reduce glare from shotgun barrels and hunters' faces, which can then translate into increased opportunity and success for waterfowl hunters.

However, passing weather fronts bring with them increased safety concerns, especially for those who hunt waterfowl from a variety of watercraft. Unfortunately, it sometimes takes a tragic event to remind us the rules of safe boating apply to hunters as well as recreational boaters.

Officials in Oklahoma are searching for missing country singer Craig Strickland of Springdale, Ark. The 29-year-old lead singer of the group Backroad Anthem went missing Sunday during a duck hunting trip at Kaw Lake, north of Oklahoma City. The dead body of his hunting companion, 22-year-old Chase Morland, was found Monday not far from their capsized vessel.

Sam, Strickland's Labrador retriever, was found alive at the time Morland's body was discovered. On Twitter, Strickland's wife, Helen Strickland, wrote: "For everyone wanting to know, Sam is fine. He was a brave boy. He wouldn't leave Chase's body until the Warden found him.

Travel Trends for 2016

8 Coming Travel Trends for 2016

"Trends, like horses, are easier to ride in the direction they are going." -- John Naisbitt

We live in unsettling times. Frankly, who really knows what is going on -- let alone what will be -- and the world of travel trends is no different. No one has a proverbial crystal ball.

Over the years, I have annually tried to formulate upcoming travel trends that I see emerging over the horizon.

Travel metric analysis is not original in the era of Big Data, with the likes of: the Robinson Crusoe Index identifying the best beaches, the Big Mac Index that costs out burgers globally, and the Bribe Payers Index, for negotiating the going get-out-of-jail rates.

Unsatisfied with those indicators, I look behind the curtain at some rather untraditional 21st century mashup travel metrics that have in the past warned you about: selfie drones, Hipster Holidays, peak-time pricing, marijuana tourism and off-the-grid travel.

What I found this past year are twin themes: firstly, the great 21st century era of disruption continues unabated, with potential game-changers looming. (Although some not so novel ideas have just been recycled, digitalized and repackaged by slick venture capitalists and PR folks.) The second noticeable theme at the close of 2015 is anger -- it seems everywhere! -- whether the result of global instability and violence, political paralysis and inflammatory campaign rhetoric, or pent up consumer frustration? Time will tell.

Here are a few Coming 8 Travel Trends to look for in 2016. First the good news:

Public Fishing Area In Morgan County

New public fishing area opens in Morgan County

MORGAN COUNTY, Ind. ( December 30, 2015)      Hoosier fishermen will have a better and safer access to one of their favorite fishing spots at the West Fork of the White River in Morgan County thanks to a new public fishing area that has been created thanks to some help by the Department of Natural Resources.

The Three Rivers Public Fishing Area, which is located on State Route 67 near S.R. 39 and  is about four miles north of Martinsville, has been a long time popular spot for area fishermen. The problem was that those wanting to fish in the area had to park and leave their cars along the roadside creating a traffic hazard. Now the 39-acre property located on the west bank of the river has a new gravel parking lot built off the roadway by DNR and also has a walking path that will take anglers to the river.

DNR officials and local authorities believe that the upgrade will attract more fishermen to the area.

Lake Fishing Tips

Lake Fishing Tips - How To Catch A Great Haul

Here are some lake fishing tips to help you catch more fish.
Lake fishing is a very enjoyable way to fish.

There are few things as pleasant as sitting next to a lake on a Summer's morning in the countryside.
Before you go fishing you will need a rod, reel with some line, hooks and weights, floats and a landing net.

You can use a ledger, but I prefer to float fish. I select a float, put some weights on the line so that the tip of the float will just be showing above the water. Nest I put a fairly small barb less hook on the line.

I put a nice piece of luncheon meat on the hook and cast out into the lake.

I then throw a few pieces of luncheon meat into the water near my float to attract some fish.

Sometimes I will have a bite within a few minutes of starting, but usually I need to wait for about an hour before the float goes under the water.

One of the great things about fishing in lakes as opposed to rivers is that once you have fish in your swim, there is no current to take them away, and you can go on catching plenty of good fish for anything up to a couple of hours.

To start with do not use any ground bait, you might be lucky and start hooking fish without any.
You probably will need some ground bait though, but an important tip is to just throw a few very small pieces in, just enough to attract the fish and not enough to feed them.

This way you will always have some hungry fish in your swim.

Here is another tip.

Fishing is the activity of trying to catch fish. Fishing sometimes takes place in the wild. Techniques for catching fish include hand gathering, spearing, netting, angling and trapping.
The term fishing may be applied to catching other aquatic animals such as molluscs, cephalopods, crustaceans, and echinoderms. The term is not normally applied to catching farmed fish, or to aquatic mammals, such as whales, where the term whaling is more appropriate.
According to FAO statistics, the total number of commercial fishermen and fish farmers is estimated to be 38 million. Fisheries and aquaculture provide direct and indirect employment to over 50a0 million people in developing countries. In 2005, the worldwide per capita consumption of fish captured from wild fisheries was 14.4 kilograms, with an additional 7.4 kilograms harvested from fish farms. In addition to providing food, modern fishing is also a recreational pastime.

Fishing in the Florida Keys

                            Fishing in the Florida Keys

Florida Keys:

For those who've ever dreamt of drinking 'the life to the least' by making an adventurous trip to one of the most diversified place on earth, by laying the soul on to the ever warm lap of nature to get back the feeling lost in the mechanized life or by going wild with some blood-curdling fishing experiences in an anglers dream world, Florida keys are out there to let your dream touch down the reality. In the southernmost part of the USA, Florida Keys stand as an island archipelago on the Strait of Florida where the Atlantic with its freezing current merges with the warm waves of the Gulf of Mexico. There are around 1700 islands forming the keys that begin about 15 miles south of Miami and extend up to the Key West while finding their tails in the uninhabited islands near Dry Tortugas. The keys are subdivided as Upper Keys, Middle Keys, Lower Keys and the Outlying Islands. The first major key is the Key Largo followed by the Islamorada, the sport fishing capital of the world. The next major key is the Marathon, the heart of the keys, set apart by the seven-mile bridge shown in one of the James Bond sagas, the True Lies. But above all lies the Key West, the ultimate destination for the nature lovers and adventure seekers as well. It is where writers find their source of inspiration and anglers either past-timer or expert, find their way through hunting over two hundred species of fish sprawling in the crystal blue water of the Key West.

Get the Most Out of Your Travel Agent

How To Get the Most Out of Your Travel Agent

Booking air travel, making hotel reservations and arranging vacation travel in general has changed completely with the advent of the internet and many people try to be their own travel agents. While you can arrange seemingly most of your travel yourself, you can't do as well as your travel agent in a long run!

Travel processionals, whether your local travel agent, tour operator or destination specialist still possess contacts that you as an industry outsider do not have. As in number of other professions, travel agents, whether in a shopping center near your home or an online agency, wherever they may be located, do know something you do not, have way to book and arrange travel for you in ways unavailable or unknown to you.

Traditionally you could contact a travel agent and ask for a quote, whether a price of an air ticket, hotel or a vacation package. For the most part travel agents still provide that kind of information, although there is a limit how much information they may disclose as not all information is readily available to them.

How to plan a boating vacation

                       Planning a Boating Vacation

There are few things in life more pleasurable than a boating vacation. The keys to a successful boating vacation are local knowledge, detailed preparation, and family flexibility.
With the advent and refinement of internet search engines, there is a wealth of information available online that can form the foundation of a successful boating vacation plan. Government websites include important information on lake and river conditions, water levels, water quality, maps - including the all important but not always supremely accurate depth charts. For example in the Texas Hill Country on the Highland Lakes, the LCRA has developed an excellent and informative website.

Other good sources of local information on bodies of water are Parks and Wildlife, and Fishing and Game authorities (be sure to obtain proper licenses if you have plans to fish or hunt!!!). However, when seeking local knowledge there is no substitute for engaging with people in the know. With a humble and friendly approach to a relevant social networking community, those in the know will be more than happy to share insights with you that will enhance your boating vacation. You can learn everything from where to find the cheapest fuel (or perhaps where to find fuel with no ethanol for those boaters who prefer to avoid these fuel additives) to boat ramps with quality surfaces and substantial water depth. Before launching your boat on an unfamiliar ramp, consider walking down the ramp and into the water to inspect the ramp surface, and water depth.

Day in the Life: California Fishing Day 1 & 2 VLOG

I'M HEADED TO CALIFORNIA!!! Check out this day 1 and day 2 VLOG from my trip to California. My goal is to catch my new PB (personal best) bass while I'm there. My current pb is 6.9lbs.

Day 1 of my quest I flew from Omaha, NE to Sacramento, CA where I met with Team Lucky Tackle Box leader Travis Moran. Travis is a well known angler on the west coast and he loves to catch BIG bass.

On day 2 Travis and I hit the road and drove to Lake Berryessa in search of some trophy sized bass. The conditions were tough on the lake. There was very little wind and lots of sunshine which made it tough to locate the bass. After hours and hours of driving around the lake and making hundreds of casts Travis finally hooked into a bass. Unfortunately it was a dink and was no bigger than the Huddleston swimbait I was throwing. By that time it was beginning to get dark so we headed to the boat ramp and drove back to Travis's place.

The next video will be day 3 of my trip in California. On day 3 we head to Bullards Bar, home of the current world record spotted bass caught by Paul Bailey. Stay tuned because its about to get good!           How to Solve Your Boat Storage Problems

Owning a boat is a pleasure and joy for many individuals who love fishing and other water sports. Often, the only downside to owning a boat is where to store it. Boat storage can become an interesting, if not annoying, problem overtime especially during the winter months. Determining different ways to store a boat and different locations available for boat storage can help make storing a boat easier and more efficient.

The most common method of boat storage is outdoor storage. Many new boat owners place their boats in a local marina and forget about them. In fact, many boat retailers offer services designed to help new boat owners quickly get their new purchase into the water as soon as possible. Once stored in a marina the boat is easily accessible by anyone who wishes to go for a ride, enjoy some fishing, and spend some time relaxing on the lake or enjoying any other type of water sport available. The only problem with storing a boat in the water is exposure to the elements.

Seven Tips for a Successful Sale of Your Used Boat

It's a lot easier to buy your boat than to sell it. I guess that's why you see far more articles and books about buying a boat than about selling one. To sell your boat takes time, money, patience, and finding the right buyer. Having to sell your boat first, before upgrading to another boat, can add pressure and be frustrating. But, if you know the seven tips below, there's a good chance your boat will sell faster than it otherwise would have.

7 Top Tips to Selling Your Used Boat:

1. Make your boat more saleable-take these six steps
  • Declutter your boat and let it shine. A clean boat sells.
  • Don't lose interest. Buyers pick up on this. Staying interested in keeping up with repairs and how the boat looks is extremely important.
  • Fix what's broken. Don't expect buyers to fix things. If something breaks or looks worn, either repair or replace it. This shows the potential buyer that you still care about your boat. That energy rubs off onto the buyer.
  • Clean the engine room. No oil, grease, or paint-chipped parts. Unfortunately, this is the biggest deal breaker. It's like walking into someplace that has mold on the walls, dirty bathrooms, and greasy carpets-a real turnoff!
  • Clean the bilge. Make sure it's not full of dirt, leaves, oil, etc. A smelly bilge is another turnoff, especially for women buyers.
  • Remove personal items. You want the buyers to imagine or envision their own stuff on the boat. Also, any personal stuff you leave on the boat could, and will, be assumed by the potential buyers to be part of the sale.

How to catch snook in a creek

Fun Snook Fishing In Tiny Creek During The Winter (via Paddle Board)

Winter time is here, and that means it's time for my favorite type of fishing...

Yep, it's sight-fishing time.

Time to get on the paddle board and hunt snook up in the clear waters of shallow creeks and sheltered bays.

Because this is when many big snook push up into the wind-protected creeks and bays since they tend to hold warmth better than open waters inshore.

And what better way to go after them than from a paddle board since it's great exercise similar to kayak fishing while having a much higher point of view which gives a huge advantage in seeing fish before they see you.

And that of course is essential in sight-fishing.

This video was filmed in a small creek that empties into Tampa Bay, FL. And it was on a super windy day right before a strong cold front pushed in this winter.

The lure used was a Gulp jerk shad rigged on a weighted hook... click this link to see exactly how to rig it:
http://www.saltstrong.com/articles/gu...

So make sure to get out there this winter and take advantage of the super clear water with big fish...

Fish On!
