The world of country music is mourning as the body of country star Craig Strickland has been found.
The lead singer for country band Backroad Anthem had been missing since Sunday, Dec. 27, after he went duck hunting with friend Chase Morland in Oklahoma's Kaw Lake.

Their capsized boat was found the next day, and Chase's body was found the day after — with Craig's hunting dog standing guard over the body after surviving the boating accident.

The Kay County Sheriff's Office announced that they found Craig's body early this morning.

Yesterday had been the eighth day of searching, with Craig's hopeful wife Helen posing a note on social media over the weekend:

Since Craig was most likely wearing his waders, it would be helpful to know what actually happens when a duck hunter falls into the water. Craig's friend put on the same style waders Craig wore last Sunday and tested it's buoyancy in the hotel pool. From this experiment, we can conclude that Craig may have actually floated after the boat was capsized.

Shortly after the Sheriff's Office announcement, Helen sent out this message via her Twitter account:
Craig Strickland was found today. He is safe with his Father in Heaven. Thank you Lord for leading us to him today. I will praise you, Amen.

"At least it's closure," said a local fan of the popular Oklahoma group.

"As much as it hurts to lose Craig, we've hated even more to think of Helen suffering through all of this!"
